Technology Start-Up Support Scheme For Universities (TSSSU)

Launched in 2014, the TSSSU aims to provide funding to support technology start-ups established by teams at six universities to commercialize their research and development results.

Program Features

Each of the six universities will receive an annual grant of up to HK$8 million and each start-up will receive an annual grant of up to HK$1.5 million for a period not exceeding three years.

Pilot Subsidy Scheme For Third-Party Logistics Service Providers

To support the competitiveness of Hong Kong’s logistics sector, HKSAR launched a “Pilot Subsidy Scheme for Third-party Logistics Service Providers” (the Pilot Scheme) on 12 October 2020, encouraging the adoption of technology by the logistics sector for enhancing efficiency and productivity. The Pilot Scheme also covers the purchases of screening equipment including X-ray machines and Explosive Trace Detection (ETD) equipment under the Regulated Air Cargo Screening Facilities (RACSFs) Scheme accepted by the Civil Aviation Department.

The Pilot Scheme is open for application all year round and the support will be granted to each applicant enterprise for a maximum of 4 approved projects, with each approved project to be completed within 24 months.

The total cumulative subsidy ceiling per applicant enterprise under the Pilot Scheme is HK$1 million (including project audit fee). The Government will cover a maximum of 50% of the total approved project cost (except the project audit fee) while the applicant enterprise has to contribute the remaining portion.

To ensure that the project funds have been properly applied to the projects, the required accounts shall be audited by an independent auditor. Final audited accounts and final should be submitted within two months upon project completion.

Enterprise Support Scheme (ESS)

Launched in 2015, Enterprise Support Scheme (ESS) aims to provide funding support for local companies to mainly conduct in-house research and development (R&D) work in Hong Kong with a view, encouraging the private sector to invest in R&D. The Support Scheme is open for application all year round and the project should be completed within 24 months.
